Olympics and Valentine's Fun!

To celebrate the Winter Olympics, we put on our own Preschool Olympics!

On Monday, we held an Opening Ceremony. Each class made a flag to carry. The torch was passed from room to room and we gathered together to sing our national anthem. We also did some exercises to get us in shape for our winter sports!

Tuesday was Ice Hockey day. The kids took turns sliding a "hockey puck" (bean bag) down the room with their hockey stick. It was so much fun and they were cheering for each other when they got a "goal!" Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it, but they had a blast.

On Wednesday, we went skating. Whether they were figure skating or speed skating, the kids had a lot of fun sliding across the "ice" on their "skates" (empty Kleenex boxes).

Thursday brought "bobsledding" on scooters. The kids worked together to slide across the floor. Then each one was awarded a gold medal at our Medal Ceremony!

We also celebrated Valentine's Day that week, so here are a few pictures of that as well!

January

We have had a lot of fun in 2014 already! Here are some of the fun moments I was able to capture with pictures from the last month:

Learning about letter O, gluing O-shaped cereal to large letter Os, and getting some fine motor practice in while using tweezers.

"P for Party" week! Pinching pom-poms onto party hats (in our pajamas, of course!)

Pizza Party Day! We made our own mini pizzas using English muffins.

Push-pin P's:

And what do you do when it's too cold to go outside for weeks at a time? Have an indoor snowball fight, of course!

Holidays

We've been having so much fun here at Early Childhood for the holidays, that I've been falling behind on posting about it!

First of all, I want to say thank you for allowing me to spend each day with your children. They bring so much happiness to me, and I'm grateful I get to be a part of their lives. Thank you for the gifts you sent, and for the families who were able to send in items for our parties or spend some time with us during them. I want to wish you all the best during the holidays and time away from school. We'll be back in January refreshed and ready to learn!

Now for some pictures!

Here are a few from the day before our Thanksgiving break, making turkeys and eating at our feast.

Here the kids are wearing their "L is for Lion" hats, and working on books about "The Very Hungry Reindeer." They are drawing and using some letters to tell their stories.

We have decorated our doors like gingerbread houses and keep adding more candy! Here some kids are practicing making patterns while they color candy canes.

We even had Santa come and work one day! :-)

We got some fine motor practice, as well as sorting practice, with this M&M activity. The kids sorted their candies by color and then used them to make a Christmas tree. (And finally, eat them!!)

And then, we just got a little silly while making presents for our parents:
