Polar Express

This month we started off by reading Gingerbread Baby and did several fun learning activities around a gingerbread theme. I didn't get many pictures of these, but here is one of some kids who were playing a graphing and counting game with gingerbread marshmallows!

The next week we read The Polar Express and did lots of fun train themed activities and ended our week with a Polar Express day. We all wore our pajamas, made some train snacks, drank hot chocolate, and even made a ticket to board the train and watch a portion of the movie! It was a fun day for everyone!

Preschool Fun

I have some pictures from a few of our classroom activities that I hadn't shared with you yet, so this is kind of a miscellaneous post of our past few weeks!

Here we were making jello when we were learning the /j/ sound. Everyone got to help with stirring and once it was done, we "jiggled" like jello and enjoyed a snack.

Here is a day we had Cuties for our snack. The kids had to work on peeling them (great fine motor practice!) and most of them LOVED the oranges, asking for more!

In our class, we learn to draw people with "Mat Man." Here we were building him piece by piece, talking about all the body parts we need when we draw a person. We even have a song that goes with it: "Mat Man has one head, one head, one head, Mat Man has one head, so that he can think. Mat Man has two eyes, two eyes, two eyes, Mat Man has two eyes so that he can see. Mat Man has one nose, one nose, one nose, Mat Man has one nose, so that he can smell....." and we continue with each body part.

During our "All About Me" week, we made name bracelets, so here is the AM class spelling their names and putting them on their bracelets.

We also made several class graphs during the "All About Me" week. Here is an example of one where we compared our eye colors.

We also made cakes to learn about our birthdays, and got to decorate them with glitter. Here one friend is shaking the "glitter box" and will open it to find his project magically decorated! :)

Fall Parties

We had a lot of fun at our Fall Parties! First, we got to practice trick-or-treating with visitors from our Central Office. We chose costumes from our classroom, and practiced saying "trick or treat" and "thank you."

At the party, we mixed red and yellow paint to magically make an orange pumpkin. We bowled to knock over "ghosts." We played "Pin the Nose on the Scarecrow." We made pipe cleaner spiders. And we ate lots of yummy treats!! Thank you to all who were able to send in items and come help at the party.
