Easter Fun

As we approached our spring break, we had some fun with Easter activities!

Ms. Jen brought us some baby chicks to look at! We had a lot of fun seeing them and listening to them "cheep, cheep." One even tried to fly a little, which made everybody laugh!

This week we were learning about the letter Z, so we painted "zigzag" lines on Easter eggs to decorate them. Using q-tips to paint helped with fine motor practice.

We also used jelly beans to practice counting out. The jars were labeled with a number, and we had to count the jellybeans to match the numeral.

We also got to do an Easter egg hunt outside. Each child was assigned a color of egg to search for and they collected eggs of that color in their bags. Then we brought them inside to count and practice comparing numbers.

March Fun

March flew by in a frenzy of fun and excitement at Early Childhood. I captured some of the moments in pictures, and I wanted to share them with you now!

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day. Here is one of the games we played, a counting and comparing game. The kids dumped pieces of "gold" onto their pot, which was divided into two halves. They then counted the number of pieces of gold on each side of the pot and decided which had more.

We also had a "Community Helper" week with some special visitors and a field trip.

First, we got to hear from a TV reporter and photographer (my husband!)

Then we had animals from the zoo come visit us! The kids got to see and touch a bunny, a frog, and a snake.

And we got to take a trip to the fire station to listen to the firefighters and see their trucks!

Olympics and Valentine's Fun!

To celebrate the Winter Olympics, we put on our own Preschool Olympics!

On Monday, we held an Opening Ceremony. Each class made a flag to carry. The torch was passed from room to room and we gathered together to sing our national anthem. We also did some exercises to get us in shape for our winter sports!

Tuesday was Ice Hockey day. The kids took turns sliding a "hockey puck" (bean bag) down the room with their hockey stick. It was so much fun and they were cheering for each other when they got a "goal!" Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it, but they had a blast.

On Wednesday, we went skating. Whether they were figure skating or speed skating, the kids had a lot of fun sliding across the "ice" on their "skates" (empty Kleenex boxes).

Thursday brought "bobsledding" on scooters. The kids worked together to slide across the floor. Then each one was awarded a gold medal at our Medal Ceremony!

We also celebrated Valentine's Day that week, so here are a few pictures of that as well!
